Marcy Riley - Living for Jesus
Consider Your Ways

“... Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”

How is your spiritual house? Is it swept and ready for Jesus to return or have you been playing church? Have you been neglecting God and spending your time doing you?

“... Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!"

God spoke to the Israelites through the prophet Haggai causing him to rebuke them for not rebuilding his temple. They were busy building and perfecting their own physical homes but did not care about Gods'.

Reading these words gave me pause. In what ways do I "build" my own house but neglect His? I realized how often and how easily I slip into making my own plans, but am I building what the Lord would have me to build?
It is often easy to rely on our gifts rather than the giver. But if whatever we are doing should be successful, it will only be so through God's guidance.
The Lord has given each of us gifts that differ from person to person. Having a particular gift is like being able to get on the elevator to go to the top of a twenty-story building. It's much harder to get to the top without the elevator, although, it can be done. Therefore, the Holy Ghost is there as our teacher, he is there as our help in order to do the things of God. He is there to lead us to higher heights and deeper depths.
As I live from day to day, I have come to the realization that it is easy to slip into doing things my way versus God's way. We are all temples for the Holy Spirit; therefore we should consider our ways and ensure that we are getting our spiritual houses in order. We are to ensure that we are doing God's will over anything else. He has to be at the front and not the back. God has to be the head of our life.. After all, Matthew 6:33 says: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all things will be added unto you". Unless it is that we do not truly believe this scripture.
Romans 12:1-3 is one of my favorite scriptures and it says:
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.."
It is just amazing what this scripture is telling us... just as in the olden days where the children of Israel would sacrifice animals to the Lord, it is the same way we are now to make sacrifices. The only difference however is that we are sacrificing ourselves. When we accept Christ we are no longer our own but Christ’s. When we accept Christ, we no longer act like the world does because the bible says we are a peculiar people. When we accept Christ our minds should be transformed as that is the only way to truly live a life similar to Christ. When we accept Christ "self" is no more. There is a war in the mind, it is a spiritual battle because the flesh lusts after the spirit and the spirit lusts after the flesh (Galatians 5:17); they are enemies. The Bible clearly says that there is an constant fight between the two, however, do we want the Spirit of God to win or do we prefer to do our own thing no matter want. Consider your ways. Change your thought process and you will change your life. Win that war in the mind.

Creflo Dollar - Winning the War in Your Mind (Serie 16.2)
In order to experience true and lasting success in life, we must renew our minds. God's way of doing things always brings maximum results; however, we must change old mindsets to line up with the mind...
Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider your ways! You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes." Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider your ways!" Haggai 1:5-7
